Women’s Basketball Hosts Fordham Thursday for Sixth Straight Game in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – On Thursday night, the La Salle women's basketball team (3-18, 0-7 A-10) welcomes Atlantic 10 foe, Fordham (13-8, 4-3 A-10), to Tom Gola Arena. The conference showdown is slated to tip at 7 p.m. with the game airing on ESPN+.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle has dropped its last nine games, most recently falling to Richmond, 74-60. The Explorers were unable to respond after a 20-2 Richmond run in the ladder half of the third quarter. Four different scorers ended the game in double figures for the first time since the win over Pepperdine earlier this season.
  • Sophomore Rayshel Brown scored 10+ points for her fifth consecutive game after dropping 10 against the Spiders.
  • At least one Explorer has scored a career high in points in eight of the last 13 games.
  • Over the last 15 games, La Salle has posted a +19 turnover margin, with seven negative outings. Over that span, the team has collected 154 steals - good enough for 10.3 per contest.
  • The Explorers are first in the A-10 in both steals (195) and steals per game (9.3). The 195 steals has La Salle ranked 48th nationally.
  • The game against Fordham will be the sixth consecutive game in the city of Philadelphia for the Explorers.
  • Sophomore Rayshel Brown is the team's active leading scorer with 8.3 points per game. Junior Shalina Miller (7.4 ppg) and sophomore Michelle Nicholls (7.4 ppg) are the next top scorers.
  • On the glass, junior Shalina Miller (6.4 rpg) and senior Jeryn Reese (6.1 rpg) are topping the team in rebounds.
  • Junior Shalina Miller is tied for fourth in program history in blocks with 88 and is currently first in the conference in blocks with 39. Her 39 deflections also has Miller ranked 34th in the nation. The Philadelphia, Pa. native also ranks second in the A-10 with 1.9 blocks per outing.
SCOUTING THE RAMS:
  • Fordham enters Thursday's game with a 13-8 overall record and 4-3 mark in the Atlantic 10. Most recently, losing three of their last four games, the Rams lone win came over Rhode Island. Fordham's losses came to three of the top teams in the conference. – VCU, Dayton, and Davidson.
  • The Rams are led by one of the A-10's top players in Bre Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh is second in the conference with 17.3 points per outing, adding 7.1 rebounds per game.  Mary Goulding is second on the team in scoring, dropping 10.7 per contest. Goulding also corrals 7.7 rebounds per match.
  • Collectively, the Rams are first in the conference in three pointers made, shooting below the league average at 29.0% (145-of-500).
  • Fordham not only leads the conference in fewest turnovers per game, but sits atop the nation with just 10.8 turnovers per outing.
  • On the defensive end, the Rams allow just 56.9 points per game, ranking second in the Atlantic 10 and 30th nationally.
THE SERIES:
  • Dating back to 1984, La Salle and Fordham have squared off 48 times, with the Explorers leading the all-time series, 34-14.
  • La Salle won the first 14 games in the series, with Fordham taking the last six.
  • The Explorers last win over the Rams came back in 2011-12 season, when La Salle swept the season series, 2-0.
