Men's Water Polo | October 12, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – La Salle (5-12) dropped a 16-7 contest against #15 George Washington (13-3) in the nation's capital on Friday. The result is a step up from when the Explorers played this same side 13 days ago and fell 19-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Explorers conceded the opening quarter 4-0 as the Colonials channeled home-pool advantage, but didn't budge in the second frame, drawing 2-2.
  • With the score 6-2 at the half, the two sides managed to mirror that result in the third quarter, and all of a sudden, La Salle trailed 12-4. The Explorers managed to keep the final frame to a closer contest and were outscored 3-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Senior Luke Waechter led the way for the Explorers with a hattrick. He also tallied an exclusion earned and a block.
  • Juniors Daniel Domotor, Ash Lyne and Cole Strohson each grabbed a goal, along with freshman Derek Allen. Domotor also assisted twice to tie Wachter for the top point total of the day.
  • Allen was tied for the team lead with two exclusion earned, equal to sophomore Robert Greene and Strohson.
UP NEXT
  • The Blue & Gold is back in action on Saturday with a pair of games at Navy and Johns Hopkins.
