PHILADELPHIA – Freshman libero
Rachel Hess was announced as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. For Hess, it's the second time she has been awarded the honor in her debut season; her first recognition was for the week of August 26th.
In a 1-1 weekend for La Salle, Hess shone as each game went the full five sets. In a loss to Duquesne on Friday, she put up 25 digs and two aces. The following day, Hess played a pivotal part in the Explorers' wild five-set comeback over Villanova, tallying 26 digs and two aces. In total, her contributions at the back were reflected both offensively and defensively, with 51 digs and four aces.
La Salle's number 17 will be back in action as the Explorers travel to George Washington on Friday.
