PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University field hockey team embarks on a three-day, two-game road trip to Virginia, beginning with a matchup against Atlantic 10 foe Richmond on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. The Explorers complete the trip with a contest at VCU on Sunday, Oct. 20, with opening pass set for 2:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle enters the weekend with a 3-1 record in the Atlantic 10 which is good for a tie for third place with Richmond.
- The Explorers earned their last league win on Oct. 11, defeating Saint Francis, 3-2, after trailing by a 2-0 margin early.
- Senior Chloe Lucky started the comeback with a goal in the 41st minute, with classmate Amanda Chapin registering the assist on the tally.
- Freshmen Kelsey Jones and Samie Hackman scored the tying and game-winning goals in the fourth quarter to help La Salle to the thrilling victory.
- Chapin accumulated a total of four assists over the two games for the Explorers last weekend, including three in a loss at Villanova.
- Overall, she has nine assists on the season to rank second in the Atlantic 10 and 10th among NCAA Division I competitors.
SCOUTING RICHMOND
- The Spiders are 7-6 overall and are tied with the Explorers at 3-1 in the A-10.
- Lock Haven, who stands at 4-1 in the conference, has handed both Richmond and La Salle their only league losses of the year.Â
- Elise Zwicklbauer has six goals and four assists on the year to lead the Spiders in both categories.
- The Explorers snapped a three-game losing skid to Richmond last season, earning a 4-1 win at Hank DeVincent Field.
SCOUTING VCU
- The Rams are a half-game behind Richmond and La Salle at 3-2 and are 5-7 overall.
- Last weekend, VCU dropped a pair of games to Lock Haven (1-0) and American (4-1).
- Maite Sturm has six of VCU's 16 goals this season and paces the squad with 13 points.
- The Explorers dropped an overtime thriller last season against the Rams, 2-1.
