AMHERST, Mass. - The La Salle field hockey team takes on Massachusetts in its final road contest of the season Friday, before hosting Lehigh for Senior Day at Hank DeVincent Field on Sunday. ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle suffered a pair of Atlantic 10 losses last weekend that put them at 3-3 in conference play, one full game back of a three-way tie for second at 4-2.
- Freshman Beau Bakker scored in the first quarter against Richmond to give the Explorers an early 1-0 lead, but the Spiders went on to score three unanswered goals to earn a win.
- Against VCU two days later, sophomore Cassie Kincaid recorded nine saves but the Rams picked up a 5-0 victory.
- For the season, Chapin leads the team with nine assists and 15 points while three players -- junior Rialee Allen, freshman Samie Hackman and Bakker -- are all pacing the squad with four goals apiece.
SCOUTING UMASS
- The Minutewomen enter as the second-hottest team in the A-10, having won three straight games -- all of which have come against conference foes.
- Five of UMass' seven losses this season have come against ranked opponents, including a 4-1 loss to Saint Joseph's on Sept. 27.
- The team has earned one ranked win on the year, defeating No. 25Ā Northeastern, 2-0, on Oct. 4.
- Lucy Cooper has a team-best 13 points on the season (4 G, 5 A) while Georgie McTeer and Jess Beech have matched Cooper with four goals on the year.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
- After a 5-1 start, the Mountain Hawks enter the weekend on a nine-game losing skid which includes a recent 4-0 loss at Cornell on Oct. 23.
- Four of those nine losses have come by just one goal.
- Drew Pecora is the main scoring threat for Lehigh, having scored 11 goals in 15 matches.
