PHILADELPHIA – In comeback fashion Sunday afternoon, the La Salle women's soccer team (10-7-1, 6-4 A-10) scored three unanswered goals to claim a 3-2 victory over Dayton (7-8-3, 5-3-2 A-10) on Senior Day. With the victory, the Explorers clinched the number four seed and a home quarterfinal playoff game on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dayton scored a pair of goals over the first 5:20 of the game.
- Freshman Danielle Rooney got the Explorers on the board after a dish from junior Jenna Soriano during the 49th minute.
- About 20 minutes later, junior Claudia Jenkins booted a kick from the box, which Rooney headed to redshirt-senior Maci Bower for La Salle's second goal.
- Just 5:02 later, junior Ashley Pyne fed Rooney, who found Bower for her second goal of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bower finished with four points on two goals.
- Rooney had a career day with four points on a goal and two assists.
- Jenkins (10-7-1) registered two saves.
GAME NOTES:
- Bower moves into a sixth-place tie with Lisa McDermott '89 for goals all-time (27).
- Bower also jumped into an eighth-place tie with Dana Gavaghan '01 with 61 career points.
- Jenkins' assist was the first of her career.
