PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey team will host its third straight Atlantic 10 opponent on Friday afternoon, when Saint Francis U. comes to Hank DeVincent Field for an important league matchup set for 3:00 p.m. Two days after the matchup with the Red Flash, the Explorers will step out of conference to take on local rival Villanova at 12:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle posted an impressive 5-2 win over Saint Louis in the first game of last weekend's homestand, with freshmen playing a key role.
  • Four different first-year players found the back of the cage, with Hannah Yanovich, Beau Bakker, Kelsey Jones and Samie Hackman all scoring goals.
  • Bakker's tally in the 17th minute gave the Explorers a lead they would not relinquish, while Jones scored the eventual game winner in the 33rd minute.
  • Senior Amanda Chapin also had a goal and registered a pair of assists in the victory.
  • Chapin leads the team with five assists and is tied with junior Rialee Allen for the lead in points (11) this season.
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS U.

  • Last Sunday, SFU dropped a 4-1 decision at VCU.
  • Agustina Deharbe scored 1:07 into the contest to give the visitors an early lead, but the Rams scored four unanswered goals the rest of the way.
  • Saint Francis has won four of the last five matchups between the two schools, including last year's 4-0 win in Loretto, Pa.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
  • Villanova defeated Bucknell by a 3-2 margin on Oct. 6 to snap a five-game losing streak.
  • Overall, the Wildcats are 4-6 on the season and 0-3 in BIG EAST play.
  • The two teams have four common opponents this season, with each side going 2-2 against Wagner, Sacred Heart, Georgetown and Rider.
  • Lydia Sydnor, a transfer from Michigan, has nine goals and 22 points to lead the team.
