PHILADELPHIA – In the home finale for the 2019 men's water polo team, the Explorers found themselves on the wrong side of a 25-10 result. Sophomore
Tyler Williams was the top scorer for the Blue & Gold, tying his season high with four goals against the Seahawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wagner drew first blood, but La Salle responded swiftly with three straight strikes. The Seahawks closed the gap to one, but a brace by Williams extended the home side's lead to three. A trio of goals for Wagner ties the score after one.
- The second frame was one to forget for the Explorers. Wagner netted eight unanswered, which stretching back to the previous quarter made for 11 straight goals for the visitors.
- Junior Cole Strohson cut into the lead with a strike, followed by a Williams goal, narrowing the deficit to 13-7. Six consecutive scored for Wagner pushed the game out of reach.
- The Seahawks continued to play well, outscoring La Salle 6-3 in the fourth.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Along with Williams, junior Ash Lyne was the other Explorer with multiple goals in the game, netting a brace.
- Junior Daniel Domotor recorded the most points for the Blue & Gold with one goal and four assists.
- Domotor and Strohson were tied for the team lead in blocks with a pair each. Strohson also scored once, assisted twice, while tallying one steal and one exclusion earned.
