PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive season, La Salle volleyball is headed to the postseason. The team it will face in the quarterfinals and the team it could face in the semifinals are both familiar opponents: #4 George Washington on Friday, and then with a win #1 VCU on Saturday. La Salle has played each team twice this season and two of the four contests went the full five sets.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • The most important stat is 6-2. That's La Salle's record over the final eight games of its season. Confidence and momentum will be key to any run made in Rhode Island.
  • The Blue & Gold heads into the postseason leading the conference in a few categories: assists per set (12.82), kills per set (13.61) and total digs (1,651). It is second in digs per set (16.68), fourth in aces per set (1.51) and hitting percentage (.211).
  • Neutral-site split: La Salle is 4-4 this season when playing in neutral venues. Its wins have come against Bowling Green, Binghamton, Harvard and Delaware.
  • Junior Samantha Graver leads the team in kills against the Colonials in 2019. She has 24 kills to go with 35 digs.
  • Freshman Marisa Guisti has also been effective at the net vs. George Washington. She has tallied 15 kills on .314 hitting and 10 total blocks.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
  • The number four seed has managed a pair of wins over La Salle. Both sides finished with an 8-6 conference record this season.
  • George Washington doesn't quite boast the same recent form that the Explorers do. Over its last seven games, the Colonials have a 3-7 mark.
  • Senior Skylar Iott would appear to be the danger player; she is first in the A-10 in attacks per set (13.03) and second in kills per set (3.99). In the pair of games against La Salle, she has 25 kills. However, in those contests she has only hit .070 with 18 errors on 100 total attacks.
  • Who then? Iott can rack up the numbers, good or bad, but watch George Washington's number 16 Jordan Young. She has 24 kills on .299 hitting against the Explorers this season.
  • Game time: Friday, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN+)
