PHILADELPHIA – Atlantic 10 end-of-season awards were announced on Thursday with La Salle volleyball well represented. In fact, the Explorers were featured eight times, making the Blue & Gold the most recognized side followed by Dayton and VCU (each with seven). One of the eight was a major award as senior
Kathryn Wood took home Setter of the Year for the second straight season.
Wood also landed on First Team All-Conference, joined by junior
Samantha Graver. The pair stuffed the stat sheet all season for La Salle, matching each other with 17 double-doubles and consistently ranking towards the top of the conference in stats. Wood paced the A-10 in assists per set with 10.56 (second straight year) and total assists 1,035 (third straight year). Graver was fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.63), total kills (359), points per set (3.97) and points (393). She also ranked ninth in total digs with 377.
Graver was additionally named to the All-Academic team, along with senior
Catherine Edgington—the latter previously recognized as La Salle's P-Chem Student of the Year for 2019.
Another senior,
Devin Corah, made Second Team All-Conference. The Calgary native did it all for La Salle this season, ranking second in kills (267), kills per set (2.78), points (295) and third in blocks (54).
The Explorers' freshman standouts,
Rachel Hess and
Marisa Guisti, were duly acknowledged for their consistency this season with places on the All-Rookie Team. Hess donned the libero shirt and didn't disappoint, ranking third in the A-10 in digs per set (4.45) and total digs (441), while pacing all freshmen with those numbers. For her part, Guisti showed tremendous progression over the season, including a stretch of three conference games (10/18-10/25) where she recorded 40 kills on .354 hitting and 12 total blocks. She led La Salle in that latter category with 72 and ranked fifth in kills. Hess was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice this season and Guisti once.
The Explorers season doesn't end with end-of-season awards, however. They take on George Washington in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Championship this Friday at 3:30 p.m.
