LEWISBURG, Pa. – Men's water polo was tied with #1 Bucknell through three quarters but just fell short in the opening game of the MAWPC Championship. Fresh off being named Second Team All-Conference, junior
Daniel Domotor validated the spot by earning player of the game, scoring four time and recording two steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams went back and forth to start the game. The Explorers would take the lead and Bucknell brought it back until the score was locked at 3-3 after the opening frame.
- Bucknell opened the scoring to start the second. A pair of goals push La Salle ahead, which the home side responded with a brace of its own. When sophomore Tyler Williams hit the back of the net, it looked like the Blue & Gold would head into the half all tied, but the Bison scored late to go up 7-6.
- The hosts got the first goal again, the Explorers netted and the Bison responded. Down two, La Salle tied it up with goals from Domotor and classmate Cole Strohson, the home side responded, and the Explorers equalized to head into the final frame tied 10-10.
- The Bison took control in the fourth, scoring three unanswered to take the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Aside from Domotor's big day, Strohson led the team in points with a hattrick and three assists.
- Other goal scorers for the Blue & Gold include senior Joey DeFusco twice and Williams and senior Luke Waechter once.
- Strohson and Williams paced the team in blocks with two each.
- Freshman Adriano Zunino was busy in net with 14 saves on 26 shots.
UP NEXT
- La Salle will now face Wagner on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. after the Seahawks fell to Navy.
