Men's Water Polo | November 24, 2019
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The La Salle men's water polo season concluded on Sunday morning with a 15-9 loss to Gannon. Seniors
Luke Waechter and
Jeff Brady led the Explorers with two goals each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon opened up a 3-0 lead to begin the first quarter, which the Explorers narrowed to one through goals from juniors Daniel Domotor and Cole Strohson.
- The second frame featured more offense from the Golden Knights as they scored twice on either side of a La Salle score to expand their advantage to 7-3.
- Unlike the previous game where the Blue & Gold managed to find an offensive foothold in the third quarter, it wasn't to be against Gannon. The Golden Knights emerged from the half by scoring four straight. La Salle answered, but Gannon quickly cancelled that out with a strike.
- Down 12-4, the Explorers would have to stage an inspired comeback in the fourth. They scored the first three of four in the frame, but the two team split the final four points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Spreading the wealth: all four classes got on the board for La Salle in this match. Waechter, Brady and Derek DeFusco (once) respresented the seniors, Domotor and Strohson (each with one) tallied for the juniors, while sophomore Tyler Williams and freshman Callin Chimilar also scored.
- The Explorers outscored the Golden Knights 5-3 in the final frame, which came after Gannon had taken the second and third quarters by a combined score of 9-2.
- Freshman Adriano Zunino and junior Cameron Schiable both spent time in goal against Gannon. Zunino had four saves and Schiable recorded two.
