PHILADELPHIA – Explorer freshman accounted for 48 points on Saturday as the La Salle women's basketball team (6-6, 0-2 Big 5) fell to Villanova (5-5, 2-1 Big 5), 77-69.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter was back-and-forth, however the Wildcats claimed a slight edge, 20-16.
- Villanova kept its slight advantage in the second period with a 22-21 margin.
- La Salle closed the gap in the third stanza with a 17-14 spurt, including a 15-5 run over a 5:35 span in the middle of the period.
- The Wildcats closed the game in the final quarter scoring 21 points over the Explorers' 15.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Collectively, the team tied a season best 19 assists.
- La Salle outrebounded Villanova, 47-36.
- Freshman Claire Jacobs scored a career high 25 points on 8-of-20 shooting, including 7-of-7 from the stripe.
- Rookie Jordon Lewis added 11 points and eight rebounds.
- Senior Shalina Miller registered eight points, a game high 10 rebounds, and three blocks.
- Junior Kate Hill handed out 11 assists with zero turnovers.
- Freshman Amy Jacobs dropped eight points with four rebounds and three steals.
GAME NOTES:
- Miller became the third player in program history to register 500 points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocks. She joins Amy Griffin '18 and Suzi McCaffrey '86.
