FAIRFAX, Va. - The La Salle University men's basketball team will be searching for its fifth straight win on Sunday afternoon as it heads to Virginia to take on George Mason. The game, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., will air live locally on NBC Sports Philadelphia and nationally on Stadium's broadcasting network. A pre-game reception will be held at Auld Shebeen (3971 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax, VA) for Explorer fans in the Fairfax area beginning at 12:00 p.m.
NEWS & NOTES
•La Salle has won four consecutive league contests, with two coming on the road and two coming at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.
•Most recently, the Explorers picked up a Philadelphia Big 5 win over Saint Joseph's, 83-69, in a game where both teams were hot from the perimeter.
•The two teams combined to go 29-for-57 (50.9%) from three-point range, with La Salle knocking down a season-high 15 threes on 31 attempts.
•Junior
Saul Phiri led the way with a 5-for-8 performance from beyond the arc and currently leads all Atlantic 10 players in conference play in three-point shooting (48.0%).
•Redshirt junior
Traci Carter scored a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and also added six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
•Sophomore
David Beatty (15 points, 4-for-4 from 3-pt. range) and graduate student
Pookie Powell (14 points, five assists, five rebounds) were the final two Explorers in double figures.
•In the paint, freshman
Ed Croswell continued his impressive play with eight points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes.
•Over his last three outings, Croswell is averaging 11.7 rebounds and is shooting 78.6 percent (11-for-14) from the field.
•La Salle is searching for its first five-game A-10 winning streak since 2016-17, when the Explorers began league play with a 5-1 record.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
•The Patriots currently sit 1.5 games ahead of the Explorers in the A-10 standings with a 7-3 record, and are coming off a pair of road losses that snapped a five-game winning streak.
•This past Wednesday against Richmond, Otis Livingston II scored 20 points but it was not enough in an 81-67 loss to the Spiders.
•Justin Kier leads GMU in scoring (14.3 ppg), rebounding (6.6 rpg) and ranks second in assists at 2.4 per game.
•Livingston II is averaging 13.6 ppg and is seventh in the A-10 at 4.2 apg.
