PHILADELPHIA - Two Philadelphia Big 5 rivals square off on Saturday evening, as La Salle and Saint Joseph's get reacquainted with one another at Hagan Arena. The game will air live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 5:00 p.m., with Todd Harris and Tim McCormick calling the action. NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers won the first meeting this season against the Hawks, an 83-69 victory that came on Feb. 5. That contest was designated the Big 5 game.
•In La Salle's most recent game on Wednesday, juniors
Isiah Deas (25 pts.) and
Traci Carter (24) posted career highs in a 79-69 win over Davidson, who entered the contest in second place in the A-10.
•Deas scored 15 of his 25 after intermission and bettered his prior mark of 24, set last season at Bucknell.
•Carter was red hot all game long, finishing 9-for-11 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range.
•The 6-1 guard also matched his season high with six rebounds and dished out three assists without turning the ball over in 32 minutes of play.
•La Salle connected on 13 of its 28 three-point attempts (46.4%), marking the 11th time this season that the Explorers have made 10 or more threes in a contest.
•Another junior,
Saul Phiri, had a big first half, scoring all 14 of his points in the opening 20 minutes of action including four three-pointers.
•Phiri is making 41.1 percent of his three-point shots this season, including 43.6 percent during league play.
•Freshman
Ed Croswell helped the Explorers win the rebounding battle against Davidson (37-30), finishing with 11 boards in 23 minutes of work.
•Croswell is averaging 8.5 rebounds during Atlantic 10 play to rank fourth among individuals and ranks second in offensive rebounding (3.7/game).
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
•Saint Joseph's overcame a 16-point second half deficit to come away with a 66-52 win at Fordham on Wednesday evening, pushing their record to 12-16 overall and 5-10 in the A-10.
•Charlie Brown, who is currently leading the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 19.6 points per game, had 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.
•Lamarr Kimble, playing in just his second game after returning from injury, added 14 points and five assists, while Lorenzo Edwards posted a double-double (18 pts., 11 rebs.).
LAST MEETING WITH THE HAWKS
•Redshirt junior
Traci Carter scored a then career-high 18 points and dished out six assists to lead La Salle to its fourth straight win, an 83-69 victory at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.
•The Explorers connected on a season-high 15 three-pointers and shot 53.7 percent from the field in the triumph.
