Career Performances Lead Women's Basketball to Overtime Win Over George Mason

PHILADELPHIA – With multiple career performances, the La Salle women's basketball team (6-24, 3-13 A-10) took down George Mason (16-13, 9-9 A-10), 77-71, in overtime Saturday afternoon from Tom Gola Arena. The win is the first overtime victory at home since the Explorers defeated Sacred Heart, 75-70, on February 28, 2007, and first overtime victory since December 7, 2016.

With a career high six blocks in the game, junior Shalina Miller set the single season program record for blocks at 61, passing Linda French '87, who set the record 33 years ago with 55.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Explorers dominated the second quarter, outpacing Mason 21-10, for the most points in a second quarter this season. La Salle shot 4-of-6 from long range to widen the gap for a nine-point lead at the half, 41-32. The Explorers' 41 points are the most in a first half this season.
  • La Salle only outscored George Mason 8-7 before the media timeout at 5:29. The Explorers were on a 5-0 run over a 2:17 span, which forced the Mason timeout. The Patriots finished the stanza on an 8-4 run to pull within four.
