Women's Lacrosse Drops Second Conference Game of the Season Against George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. –Women's lacrosse continued conference play on Sunday with a 20-6 loss to George Mason. Sophomore Bridget Ruskey had an impressive afternoon in Virginia, netting a hattrick and recording six draw controls. The Explorers now sit at 1-1 in A-10 play; they'll have an opportunity to move beyond .500 with a date against Davidson on Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Patriots looked comfortable on their home turf, jumping out to a 9-0 lead just past the midway point of the first half. Sophomore Sarah Elias got the Explorers on the board shortly thereafter.
  • George Mason responded by finishing the first on a 4-1 run with sophomore Brittany Stevens the goal scorer for the visiting side. The Patriots led 13-2 at the half.
  • The home side continued where they left off, starting the second frame by netting six unanswered.
  • After the 11-minute mark, La Salle outscored George Mason 4-1. Ruskey recorded her three goals and sophomore Allison Hunter also got on the scoresheet.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Ruskey, La Salle's second-most prolific scorer with 20 goals this season, recorded her third hattrick of 2019. Her six draw controls keep her at the top of that category with 32 on the campaign.
  • Sophomore Annina Iacobucci dished out one assist vs. the Patriots, making her La Salle's top provider this season with eight.
  • Senior Ashley Blanton paced the Explorers in ground balls (three) and caused turnovers (two).

  • The Explorers return home to welcome Davidson on Friday. First draw is at 3 p.m.
