DAYTON, Ohio - La Salle men's basketball finishes its Atlantic 10 road schedule on Wednesday evening with a matchup against Dayton at UD Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with the game airing live on ESPN+.
NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers are coming off a 72-62 loss at Saint Joseph's on Saturday, a game in which they struggled throughout offensively.
•La Salle tied a season high with 21 turnovers and shot 31.4 percent from the field against the Hawks.
•Junior
Saul Phiri led the way with 17 points, 14 of which came in the second half.
•Sophomore
David Beatty helped La Salle win the rebounding battle (42-29) with a career-high 12 boards, including 11 on the defensive end.
•La Salle entered the game leading the Atlantic 10 in steals per game but managed just three against SJU, with the Hawks limiting their miscues to nine on the contest.
•Redshirt junior
Traci Carter had 11 points, six assists and five rebounds after going for a career-high 24 points in a home win over Davidson three days prior.
•The Explorers currently rank third in the A-10 during conference play in three-point field goal percentage (.360) and steals per game (7.5).
•Freshman
Ed Croswell, who had seven rebounds against the Hawks, ranks fourth in rebounding against conference foes at 8.4 per contest.
•Phiri is also among the league leaders in three-point field goal percentage (3rd - .436) and three-point field goals made per game (T-3rd - 2.8).
SCOUTING DAYTON
•Dayton currently sits in a tie for third place in the league standings at 11-5, and are 19-10 overall.
•Last Friday, the Flyers dropped a narrow 72-70 decision to Rhode Island at UD Arena.
•Freshman Obi Toppin, who has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week six times this year, had 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists against the Rams.
•On the season, Toppin ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage (67.6%) and is 16 points shy of setting Dayton's freshman scoring record held by Tony Stanley.
•The game on Wednesday marks Senior Night for a pair of Dayton players - Josh Cunningham and Jack Westerfield.
SERIES HISTORY
•Dayton holds a 28-17 lead in the all-time series between the two schools, with the Flyers winning the last 13 meetings held at UD Arena.
•The last time La Salle won at Dayton was February 27, 1999, an 88-74 victory.
•In that game, the Explorers had four players play the full 40 minutes and had just one reserve, with K'Zell Wesson going for 14 points and 18 rebounds.
