LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After winning the series opener on Friday, the LaSalle University baseball team dropped a pair in a doubleheader at New Mexico State on Saturday. The Explorers dropped the first game, 6-1, and the second game, 7-3.

Game 2/4 - NM State 6, La Salle 1 

• New Mexico State took a 2-0 lead after three innings after Nick Gonzales scored. 
• Freshman Tatem Levins drove in junior Ryan Guckin to bring La Salle withing one.
• The Aggies scored four more over the next three innings en route to the 6-1 final.

Game 3/4 - NM State 7, La Salle 3

• Guckin drove home senior Peyton Sorrels to open up the second game for a 1-0 La Salle advantage after one inning.
• Tristen Carranza homered for the Aggies, but senior Brian Tagoe ripped an RBI single in the fourth to score senior Kevin McGowan.
• NM State got two in the bottom of the fourth, yet McGowan brought home fellow senor Ben Faso in the fifth to tie the game at three apiece.
• Carrenza launched his second homer of the game for the home team and Joseph Ortiz helped the Aggies pull away from the Explorers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Explorers still managed to keep NM State off its normal output of 14.5 runs per game as Jackson Ray and Colin Kennedy pitched game one.
• Meanwhile, in game two reliever Sebastian Martinez got through the fifth inning with starter Mike Anthony.
• Colin Scanlon and Chuck Kelley also see action for La Salle.
