PHILADELPHIA - Now in its 81st year, the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in North America, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada participating. The La Salle University men's and women's rowing programs will compete in the event, starting on Friday, May 10 on the Schuylkill River.

NEWS & NOTES

• The men's rowing team will have three boats competing against some of the nation's finest programs.
• The first race will begin at 8:18 a.m., with a time trial for the Second Varsity Eight (Virgil Isola, Coxswain; Carson Browne, Stroke).
• The Varsity Eight, led by Jared DeFoney (Cox) and Jeffrey Leonetti (Stroke), commences time trial competition at 9:24 a.m.
• Later on in the afternoon, the Third Varsity Eight boat (Quoc Tran, Coxswain; Lou Iacovelli, Stroke) will participate in the semifinals of their competition (12:34 p.m.).
• The women's side also has three boats hitting the water this weekend -- the first and second varsity eight boats, and a lightweight four.
• Coxswain Jennah Syed and stroke Angela Hallinan will direct the varsity eight at 9:08 a.m. with a time trial that will send the top 18 boats to the semifinals.
• The semifinals of the Second Varsity Eight (Natalie Fabi, Coxswain; Maya Moore, Stroke) will be held at 12:40 p.m.
• The final race of Friday will take place at 1:00 p.m., with Hallinan returning as the stroke of the Lightweight Four. Syed will also serve as coxswain.
