Rabenberg

Women's Rowing | August 16, 2019

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University head men's and women's rowing coach Tom Madden has announced Maggie Rabenberg, a former student-athlete at Loyola (Md.), will join his staff as an assistant coach. Rabenberg recently completed a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Division III North Park University in Chicago, where she assisted in the design and implementation of an annual training program, on and off the water, including the creation of a strength and conditioning program and daily workouts.

"I'm very excited to be adding Maggie to our staff," Madden said. "Her experiences as a student-athlete and a coach have given her a great foundation to make the jump to the next level."

While in the Midwest, oversaw the coaching and on-campus recruiting for the novice program, which doubled in size since she joined the program and was pivotal in the team's best season in 15 years. During the 2018-19 campaign, the novice 4+ boat finished a team-best 11th at Head of the Hooch, 2nd at the Lubbers Cup, 1st at the Illinois Collegiate Rowing Invitational, 3rd at the MARC Conference Championships and 6th in the Grand Final at the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River, in a field of 25 boats.

"I am super excited to be joining the team at La Salle, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with the next generation of Explorers," Rabenberg exclaimed. "I look forward to transitioning from racing in Philadelphia when I was in college to being able to coach on the Schuylkill every day and seeing these athletes build speed over the season."

As a member of the NCAA Division I program at Loyola, Rabenberg started her freshman year in the Varsity 8 boat that competed at the Patriot League Championship in the inaugural year of Loyola's membership within the conference. She went on to compete in three more Patriot League Championships.

In 2016, Rabenberg competed at the IRA National Championship Regatta in the Women's Lightweight Double Sculls event, placing seventh. The following year, she won gold medals in the Women's Pair and Women's 2nd Varsity 8+ at the MARC Championship Regatta.

While still rowing at Loyola, Rabenberg was brought on as the assistant coach at Roland Park Country School, where she coached varsity and JV until graduation. She then took a position in Boston at Community Rowing, Inc., where she was the head of her own program as Youth Recreational Coordinator. She has continued her rowing career at the Chicago Rowing Foundation, where she rowed at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta, placing 43rd in the Women's Club 4+ in 2017.

Rabenberg graduated from Loyola (Md.) with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in sociology in 2017, and completed her master's degree in education from North Park in 2019.
