PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University field hockey team returns home for a Sunday matinee against Long Island University on Sunday, Sept. 15. Opening pass is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., with all of the action available over the internet on ESPN+ (subscription required).
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle exploded for six goals in its last outing, a 6-0 victory over Wagner in Staten Island on Sept. 8.
- Junior Rialee Allen had a career game against the Seahawks, scoring four goals — three in the first half — and registering an assist for a nine-point outing.
- Allen's outburst earned her GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
- Freshman Casey Reilly also had a game to remember, scoring the first goal of her collegiate career and tallying an assist.
- Sophomore Cassie Kincaid made two saves to notch her second shutout of the year in goal.
- The six-goal effort by the Explorers was the sixth time the team had scored six or more goals in a game in the last 10 years.
SCOUTING LIU
- The Sharks, who last season competed as the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, are in their first season as a team after the LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post (Division II)Â campuses merged to form one athletic department.
- The Post team went 13-5 last year and advanced to the conference quarterfinals.
- This season, the team is 0-3 and most recently dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 25 William & Mary.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Olton has the lone goal of the year for the Sharks.
