Men's Water Polo Set to Begin Five-Game Weekend, Starts with Navy at Home

PHILADELPHIA – Men's water polo is set for its busiest weekend of the season, with five games slated over Friday, Saturday and Sunday—three of which are conference matches. The Explorers will have its home opener against Navy on the 20th, then travel to Lewisburg for the Bison Invite where they'll face Mercyhurst and Washington & Jefferson the following day, and then close out the weekend against Fordham and #13 Bucknell.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle wrapped up the previous weekend by going 2-2, defeating Mercyhurst and Penn St. Behrend, while falling to Gannon and Salem—the latter an overtime loss.
  • Junior Daniel Domotor paced the Explorers by scoring 13 times and assisting 10, in addition to 11 steals and three blocks. The number seven tallied at least five points in all four games. on his way to being named MAWPC Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Junior Ash Lyne was second on the team in goals with nine and also contributed six assists. Lyne was followed by sophomore Tyler Williams on eight strikes.
  • Senior Joey DeFusco made plenty of players and finished the weekend second on the team in assists with nine, while also scoring three.
  • On the defensive side, junior Cole Strohson had an impact with nine steals and three blocks. Strohson led the team in exclusions earned with 13.
  • In net, junior Cameron Schiable recorded 36 saves over the four games, while also contributing two steals and two assists.
SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
  • The Midshipmen have held steady in the national poll—never breaking the top 25, but always receiving votes. They've begun the season 5-4; their game against the Explorers will be their first away contest of the campaign. Last year, they were 4-6 in opponents' home pools.
  • Navy is led by sophomore Isaac Salinas who has scored 24 goals and assisted four. He has also earned a team-high 10 kickouts drawn.
  • In net, senior Ronan Williams gets the most looks and has recorded 34 saves on 82 shots. The number one has a career .464 save percentage.
  • Game time: Friday, 5 p.m.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
  • The Explorers will have Mercyhurst fresh on their minds after defeating them 18-8 last weekend. The Lakers are 2-5 thus far.
  • Senior Ryan Witoslawski paces the team in goals with 21, followed by classmate Alex Cappuccio with 17 strikes. Witoslawski was the key threat against La Salle in Erie, scoring five against the Explorers.
  • Game time: Saturday, 9:15 a.m.
SCOUTING THE PRESIDENTS
  • Washington & Jefferson has begun its season slowly, going 1-5 with the sole win coming from a forfeit. The Explorers are 2-2 all-time against the Presidents, but currently on a two-game winning streak.
  • Senior Ian Geister leads the Presidents with five goals, followed by sophomore Kyle Rubenstein on four.
  • In net, senior Nick Spehar has tallied 29 saves as Washington & Jefferson's main man in net.
  • Game time: Saturday, 8:30 p.m.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
  • Fordham has had a strong beginning to its campaign, going 5-2 with all five wins sandwiched between losses. Their start is reflected by the team receiving votes in the national poll.
  • The Rams are led by senior Jake Miller-Tolt, who was named to the All-Conference First Team last season. Most recently, Miller-Tolt struck for 13 goals and 11 assists in three games last weekend as Fordham went 2-1.
  • Game time: Sunday, 3:30 p.m.
SCOUTING THE BISON
  • Bucknell has moved up to 13th in the nation after beginning its season 6-1.
  • The team has yet to play a home game in 2019, but is currently on a 24-game winning streak in its pool. The Bison have not lost a home contest since October 8, 2016.
  • Bucknell features senior Rade Joksimovic who leads the team in goals (31), assists (10) and steals (14). Joksimovic boasts a career point total of 574 and has found the back of the net 419 times.
  • In net, sophomore Jack Otto has tallied 52 saves on 110 shots for a save percentage of .473, slightly above his career average of .439.
