NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The La Salle men's golf team completed day one of The 44
th MacDonald Cup on Saturday. The Explorers are tired for 10
th out of 12 after shooting a 306 and 297 in rounds one and two, respectively.
ABOUT THE MacDONALD CUP:
- This is the 44th running of The MacDonald Cup, hosted by Yale.
- The Course at Yale is a par 70, 6,810-yard course in New Haven, Conn.
- Twelve teams are competing with a total of 76 golfers.
- Six players per team compete with the top four scores counting.
LA SALLE SCORECARD:
- Junior David Kim is leading the Explorers and is tied for 27th overall. Kim shot a 71 and 75 for a two-round total of 146 (+6).
- Junior Ron Fischang carded a 152 (+12) after a 76 in each of the first two rounds.
- Sophomores Parker Wine, Matt Werner, and freshman Karsen Rush are all tied at 155 (+15). Wine and Werner shot an 82 and 73, while Rush hit a 79 and 76.
- Rookie Nikita Romanov rounded out the La Salle card with an 80 and 77 for a day-one score of 157 (+17).
THE FIELD:
- Minnesota leads the 12-team tournament with a 549 through the first two rounds.
- The Gophers' Evan Long and Angus Flanagan sit atop the player leaderboard after carding a 136 (-4).
UP NEXT:
La Salle concludes The MacDonald Cup tomorrow for the final round. The Explorers tee off at 9 a.m. in a shotgun format.
