Terriers Too Strong for Men's Soccer on the Road

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Tuesday to a tough St. Francis Brooklyn squad on the road, 3-0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Terriers struck first in the 21st minute on a chip pass for a one-timer by Chris Gruver from the left side.
  • St. Francis then took a two-goal lead in the 32nd minute on another lofted pass to the right side where Matteo Caribotti snuck in the goal.
  • Amir Islami put the match away in the 81st minute with the third and final goal for the Terriers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Despite the result, La Salle actually matched St. Francis in shots with 14 apiece. The Terriers held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, however.
  • Sophomore Sam DeCencio took three shots, including two on goal. Sophomore Omari Cotterell and freshmen Franc Gamiz Quer and Isak Sedin each had two shots to their credit as well.
  • In goal, sophomore Brett Werner made four saves, while on the other side, Callum James also made four saves to record his second straight clean sheet.

  • La Salle will return home on Saturday for a 3 p.m. battle with Robert Morris.
