BRONX – La Salle men's swimming & diving picked up its second consecutive win of 2020, defeating the Fordham Rams in dominant fashion, 217-71. The Explorers won every single event except the 50 Free, and in the majority of those wins they took first and second place
MEET NOTES
- Of the 14 swimming events, 10 were won with La Salle going 1-2. Fordham men's diving did not compete.
- The Blue & Gold tallied 11 individual victories with four Explorers notching multi-win afternoons: junior Daniel Johnson (2), sophomore Zachary Wolbert (3), freshmen Cole Dyson (2) and Trenton Burr (2).
- Wolbert controlled his three swims, claiming the 100 Fly in 50.48 (over a second faster than the next swimmer), the 200 Fly in 1:51.38 (over three seconds faster than the next swimmer) and the 200 IM in 1:52.73 (almost four seconds faster than the next swimmer). Additionally, Wolbert helped power the 200 Medley Relay team to first.
- It was a solid day for Johnson in the freestyle. The Annapolis native took both the 100 yard and 200 yard, timing 46.64 in the former and 1:41.96 in the latter. He was also part of the winning 400 Free Relay team.
- Fast start for the freshmen: Dyson and Burr continued their impressive Spring semester on Saturday. Dyson emerged victorious in the 500 Free (4:41.79) and 1000 Free (9:38.94), while Burr outpaced the field in the 100 Back (51.72) and 200 Back (1:52.46). Dyson additionally helped the 400 Free Relay team to triumph.
- The two other first-place finishers for La Salle were seniors Christoff Ras and Marcus Forsgren. Ras' winning time came in the 200 Breast, clocking in at 2:05.36. He also finished second in the 100 Breast and 200 IM. Forsgren pipped his classmate to the 100 Breast victory with a time of 57.98 and also had runner-up results in the 50 Free and 100 Free. He additionally was part of the winning 200 Medley Relay side.
