Dr. Henry "Hank" DeVincent was one of the greatest student-athletes La Salle will ever see. He was an All-American for the La Salle baseball team in the mid-1950s and went on to play in the minors. Yet DeVincent's true calling was as a healer, becoming one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the Philadelphia area. From humble beginnings up until his passing, DeVincent was a baseball star, a distinguished surgeon and a generous soul. Hank was one of a kind. He came to La Salle through the influence of the Christian Brothers and gave back to his alma mater every chance he got. His No. 8 baseball jersey is retired and his name lives on through La Salle's baseball field: Hank DeVincent Field.
