Women’s Soccer Set for Matchups Against Duquesne, VCU

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team sets its sights on two contests in the next four days, traveling to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne on Thursday, Oct. 14 before an Alumni Day matchup against VCU on Sunday, Oct. 17 inside McCarthy Stadium.
 
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle enters the weekend with a 2-3-1 record in the Atlantic 10 and a 4-7-2 record overall. The Explorers face a Duquesne side that shares the same conference record and a VCU team that heads into the weekend undefeated in A-10 play.
  • The Explorers have held their opposition out of the net in two of their last three games, shutouts coming at home against Rhode Island before heading to D.C. to take down George Washington last Sunday.
  • Camaren Cox scored her second goal of the season in the win over the Colonials, joining Emily Banashefski as the only other Explorer to record multiple goals this season. Banashefski leads the team with six points, tallying two goals and two assists.
  • Shea Collins continues to be a sturdy presence at her outside back role, also providing an attacking presence to lead the team with three assists.
  • In goal, Michela Auguadro has safeguarded the net in the last two clean sheets for the Explorers. The sophomore holds a 3-2-1 record with three shutouts to her name and a .833 save percentage.
 
ABOUT THE DUKES
  • Duquesne enters Thursday's match with a 4-6-2 record, coming off of a 2-0 away loss to George Mason last Sunday.
  • Led by Emma Bundy, the freshman paces the squad with five goals and two assists to lead the team.
  • Karly Steinher (3g, 3a) and Hannah Nguyen (2g, 4a) trail just behind their teammate with nine and eight points respectively.
  • Megan Virgin has seen most of the action in the Duquesne goal, making 11 starts in the 12 contests on the year. She holds a .710 save percentage and has tallied 49 saves on the year.
 
ABOUT THE RAMS
  • VCU cruised to a 10-2 record to start the season, the only two blips coming from the state of North Carolina as Wake Forest and East Carolina both defeated the Rams by a 2-0 score.
  • The Rams have outscored A-10 opponents 14-5 in their opening six games onto an unblemished start to the conference season.
  • Samantha Jerabek leads the team in goals (4), points (13) and is tied for the lead in assists (5). Lyndsey Gutzmer shares the assist title with two goals to her name as well.
  • Grace Young has played every minute of the season inside the VCU goal, helping her team to four shutouts with a .796 save percentage and a 0.90 GAA.
