Men's Swimming and Diving | October 2, 2021
CHESTNUT HILL, MA. – La Salle men's and women's swimming and diving wrapped up their first competition of the fall 2021 season, as the women finished in second while the men placed fourth at the conclusion of competition in day two of the Catholic Invite.
La Salle also picked up two first-place finishes in diving, as
Sam Henninger captured the men's one meter while
Phoebe Shaya took the top spot in women's three meter.
HOW THE SWIMMERS FINISHED:
- The women's team finished with 581.5 points, trailing just host Boston College on the team leaderboard.
- On the men's side, La Salle ended with 395 points, rising from fifth place to fourth in day two of the Catholic Invite.
- Toni Rafferty finished second in the women's 100 yard freestyle, clocking in at 53.47.
- In the women's 200-yard backstroke, Sara Rizzetto finished in third with a time of 2:04.71.
- Jake Kramer ranked fifth in the men's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:38.25.
- In the women's 1000-yard freestyle, Anne Moser placed second with a final time of 10:44.54.
- Trenton Burr and Alex Kuriawa finished in second and third respectively in the men's 100-yard backstroke.
- Burr also ranked fourth in the men's 100-yard butterfly, timing in at 52.59.
HOW THE DIVERS FINISHED:
- Sam Henninger took the top spot in the men's one-meter dive with a score of 273.80, beating out Boston College's Dale Nickerson by 3.45 points.
- In the women's three-meter, Phoebe Shaya picked up the win with 227.25 points. Kaitlyn Smykowski followed in fifth, while Erica Kenski finished in seventh.
- Shaya also led the Explorers with a third-place finish in the women's one-meter, as Julie D'Amore finished in fifth.
UP NEXT:
The Explorers will return to Kirk Pool to host their first meet of the season on Friday, Oct. 8 when both diving and swimming teams will take on Drexel. The meet will begin at 5 p.m.
