Box Score WORCESTER, MA. – La Salle field hockey (7-9, 3-3 A-10) finished their road slate with a win, beating Holy Cross 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tatum Johnson got the Explorers off to a fast start, scoring in the first quarter to give La Salle a 1-0 lead.
- The Explorers held the edge in shots in the first quarter by a margin of 4-1.
- Neither side recorded a shot on goal in the second, bringing the halftime score to 1-0.
- Both offenses generated scoring chances in the third, but both Brooke Ross and Ryan Curley each came up with saves in the period.
- Allie McDonough had a chance to knot the game with just under 11 minutes remaining, but Curley made her second stop to keep the Crusaders scoreless.
- Holy Cross had one more chance with 1:16 remaining, but Sarah Potter's last second shot was blocked as the Explorers picked up their second road win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Midfielder Paige Doyle led La Salle with four shots, including three shots on goal.
- La Salle held the edge in shots, 11-10 and in shots on goal, 6-2.
- The Explorer defense was led by 60-minute performances from Emma Holzman, Sofia Pla, and Grace Ferriolo.
- Ryan Curley (7-9) picked up her third shutout of the season in Sunday's win.
