Box Score PHILADELPHIA – In their regular season finale on their home field, La Salle field hockey (7-10, 3-4 A-10) fell to No. 12 Saint Joseph's, 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Katelyn Cocco got the Hawks off to a fast start, scoring off a feed from Leigh Hames 7:26 into the match to give St. Joe's an early 1-0 lead.
- In a tight, defensive first half, sophomore Ryan Curley made five saves for La Salle in the opening two quarters to keep the game scoreless at the half.
- Through the first 14 minutes of the third quarter, each side recorded just one shot.
- However, the Hawks broke through with 47 seconds left in the frame, as Leigh picked up her second assist of the match on a feed to Katy Benton to make the score 2-0.
- In the fourth, Cassidy Atchison added a penalty stroke goal to bring the final score to 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Hawks had gone six quarters without allowing a shot before La Salle broke through with two in the second half.
- St. Joe's held the end in shots, 19-2, and penalty corners, 13-1.
- In goal, sophomore Ryan Curley made seven saves for the Explorers.
