PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's rowing team concluded a strong day on the waters at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, the men's freshman 4+ stealing the show with a gold medal performance on Saturday morning.
 
"The team raced powerfully and with good results today," said interim head coach Bill Manning. "The Class of 2025, our first-years, led the way winning a silver medal. We also placed well in the Championship events, especially relative to our traditional rivals."
 
The crew of Johann Kroll, Joe Yeager, Joel Bevenour and Elmo Van Olm coxswained by Dominic Mazza were the first boat on the river for the Explorers, starting off on a strong note. The crew finished with a time of 13:37.00 to claim their silver medals in front of a field of 16 boats.
 
La Salle entered two boats in the men's champ 4+, led by the "A" boat coxswained by Trevor Fawcett with a time of 13:02.42 to finish 11^th. The "B" boat finished 23^rd led by coxswain Elizabeth Boyle, finishing with a time of 13:46.35.
 
The Explorers continued the HOSR in the men's club 8+ with a ninth place finish, only 20 seconds off a top three finish as Virgil Isola coxswained his boat to a time of 11:41.45. The men finished the afternoon in the championship 8+, racing to an 11:39.21 time for 20^th.
 
"It's a good, fun start to the season and will give the rowers further motivation to train for the spring," concluded Manning.
