BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The La Salle women's cross country team landed in seventh place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Regionals with twin sisters Liz and
El Mancini finishing in the top 20 on Friday afternoon.
The Explorers finished in 13
th place in the 27-team field. They totaled 349 points and clocked in an average time of 22:09. La Salle finished ahead of fellow Atlantic 10 conference members Duquesne and Saint Joseph's.
El and
Liz Mancini earned All-Region honors for their performances.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Liz Mancini was the first to cross the finish line for the Explorers. She clocked in at 20:46.4 and recorded an average mile time of 5:34.1 for 12th place.
- Twin sister El Mancini followed behind in the top 20 claiming the 20th spot. She turned on the heat in the final stretch after recording a time of 14:01.6 at the 2-mile split. El Mancini crossed the line with a final time of 20:46.4
- Christine Mancini and Maeve Gimbert both earned spots in the top 100. Christine Mancini clocked in at 22:24.5 for 76th while Gimbert recorded a time of 22:51.4 for 99th.
- Julia flood remained steady the entire 3.7 miles recording an average mile tile of 6:19.3. She crossed the line at 23:34.8 for 143rd place.
- Jenna Webb and Jaime Green crossed the finish line in 162nd and 183rd places, respectively. Webb recorded a time of 24:01.1 and Green 24:58.6.
