WASHINGTON, D.C. – The La Salle men's and women's cross country have each been picked to finish in second place in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, as voted on by league coaches.
The men's cross country team received a total of 184 points in the poll. Loyola Chicago was picked to win the conference, getting a total of 208 points and receiving 13 first-place votes. George Mason, George Washington, and Saint Louis rounded out the top five. The team comes off of a 2024 season in which it finished fifth in the conference championship meet, with a score of 139 points.
For the La Salle women's cross country team, it was predicted to finish second in the preseason poll, receiving a total of 182 points and earning a first-place vote. Loyola Chicago was picked first with a total of 209 points, earning the 13 remaining first-place votes.
The squad placed fourth last year at the conference championship meet, scoring a total of 123 points.
Gwenno Goode, who won the individual A-10 title last year with a time of 20:10.4, returns to the team for her third season.
The men's and women's teams will begin its 2025 seasons on Friday, Aug. 29 at the Temple Owl Invite in Ambler, Pa. The race will start at 5:00 p.m.
