CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Two members of the La Salle University baseball team were recognized with preseason honors from Perfect Game on Monday prior to the start of the 2021 season.

Right-handed pitcher Frank Elissalt was chosen as Perfect Game's Atlantic 10 Conference Preseason Freshman of the Year, while catcher Tatem Levins was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.

Elissalt enters his first season with the Explorers after coming north from Miami, Fla., where he starred at Southwest Miami High School. The 6-foot-2 ace was an all-district pitcher as a senior and was named to the All-Dade County Team as a junior. Perfect Game had Elissalt ranked among the top 450 members of the incoming freshman class and the 23rd ranked right-handed pitcher out of Florida.

Levins was on pace for another monster season in 2020 before COVID-19 ended the season in early March. The Langhorne, Pa. native put forth a .321 batting average for the second consecutive season and led the team in RBI (13), hits (17), doubles (6), total bases (26), slugging (.491), OPS (.900), and walks (10) through just 14 games. As a freshman in 2019, he was named a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and Philadelphia Big 5 Rookie of the Year.
