PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University head field hockey coach
MaKayla Hancock has announced her team's captains for the 2021 season. Seniors
Rialee Allen and
Cassie Kincaid are joined by junior
Jessica Hewitt and sophomore
Kelsey Jones as captains for the year.
"As our team discussed throughout the 2020 summer, fall and winter months, the term "captain" means something a little bit different to everyone," Hancock said. "Our staff is confident that this group of individuals embodies the team's overall wants and needs as we move forward in building upon our culture and promoting our programs standards. We have a group that has a variety of different leadership qualities and experiences, and overall offers great mentorship, top notch effort on and off the hockey pitch, positive attitudes, and trust and respect from their team and coaching staff."
In addition, the program has added four committees - Locker Room, Community Service, Team Chemistry and Hype Crew - designed to promote team unity and accountability.
The three chairs of the newly-formed committees are:
Locker Room Committee – Junior Shannon O'Reilly
Community Service Committee – Junior Tori Wright
Hype Crew & Chemistry Committees – Sophomore Hannah Yanovich
"Shannon, Tori, and Hannah will each play big roles within our program," Hancock said. "We will lean on the chairs of these committees to enhance our program in critical areas on and off the pitch."
The field hockey season schedule will be announced in the coming days. Stay tuned to goexplorers.com and field hockey's social media pages (@LaSalleFH) for updates.
