PHILADELPHIA – It was all about the rookies on Saturday at McCarthy Stadium as the La Salle women's soccer team (1-0) shutout Villanova (0-1), 4-0. Freshmen Caitlin Donovan, Kelli McGroarty, and Jordynn Stallard all shined in their first collegiate games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• During the 19^th minute of play, McGroarty received a pass from classmate Giovanna Castorina that flew past the diving Nova keeper for the first goal of the outing.
• Just a few minutes later at 23:13, McGroarty scored again after a miscue by the Wildcats.
• Late in the second half, it was Donovan's turn. She flew up the center of the field to score unassisted during the 79^th minute of play.
• Like her classmate before her, Donovan repeated with another unassisted goal less than five minutes later at 82:34.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Both McGroarty and Donovan finished with two goals to start their rookie seasons.
• Castorina had the lone assist of the day.
• In net, Stallard completed her first career shutout with three saves on five shots faced.
