Men's Soccer Drops Close Road Match at Seton Hall

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team doubled Seton Hall's shot total on Saturday, but the Explorers couldn't find a goal in a 1-0 setback to the Pirates on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hall scored the first and what turned out to be the only goal of the game early on as Jake Barrett found the back of the net in the 7th minute.
  • The Pirates didn't register another shot for the remainder of the period as the Explorers held a 5-2 shot advantage in the half but still trailed 1-0 at halftime.
  • Seton Hall was issued a red card in the 48th minute and La Salle took advantage with three shots over the next 12 minutes.
  • The Explorers continued to put the pressure on and had a beautiful attempt on goal in the 85th minute, but junior Nigel Buckley's shot was stopped.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • For the game, La Salle outshot Seton Hall 12-6, however the shots on goal were even at five apiece.
  • Buckley fired a game-high five shots, with three on goal, and freshman Junior Nare added two shots. Junior goalkeeper Brett Werner made four saves in net.

  • La Salle will conclude its three-game season-opening road stretch on Thursday for a 5 p.m. game at Mount St. Mary's (Md.).
