PHILADELPHIA – Men's water polo looks to keep its winning streak alive with three games this weekend. The Explorers face nationally ranked opposition on Saturday, playing #10 Bucknell and #9 Navy in Annapolis, Md. They'll then go up against George Washington on Sunday.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- The Explorers are currently on a two-game winning streak after defeating Iona in consecutive days.
- Three players top the goalscoring charts for La Salle: senior Daniel Domotor, sophomore Callin Chimilar and freshman Kiahi Horan each have seven goals. Senior Cole Strohson follows with six and junior Tyler Williams on five.
- Horan leads all Explorers with 16 points. He is the team's top distributor with nine assists, averaging three a game.
- Domotor leads all players with seven steals, while Strohson has six. The latter has drawn the most kickouts on the team with nine.
- Chimilar has had a strong all-around start to his second year with seven goals, three assists, five steals and seven exclusions earned.
- In net, Veljko Kotarica is coming off a monster game at Iona where he logged 10 saves on 12 shots. In total for the season, he has 25 saves on 42 shots for a .595 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Bucknell has played two games so far this season, both against Navy. It defeated the Midshipmen in overtime and then fell to them, 15-5.
- It's a three-way tie for top score thus far: senior Jared Stanley, junior Josh Yardley and sophomore Andu Vlasceanu each have three goals on the season.
- In net, sophomore Adrien Touzot has recorded 19 saves on 45 shots for a .422 save percentage.
- Game time: Saturday, 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
- Navy is 4-1 this season with its only loss coming to Bucknell in overtime.
- They defeated the Explorers at Kirk Pool last weekend, 14-5.
- Senior Bobby Lee and junior Isaac Salinas each recorded a hattrick vs. the Explorers.
- Game time: Saturday, 6 p.m.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
- George Washington has played once this season, an 8-2 loss to Navy.
- The most notable performance of that game came from freshman goalkeeper Luca Castorina, who recorded 15 saves on 23 shots.
