ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Men's water polo dropped contests to nationally-ranked Bucknell and Navy on Saturday. The Explorers went toe-to-toe with the #10 Bison before falling 9-7; later, they succumbed to the #9 Midshipmen, 19-7.
Bucknell 9, La Salle 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams were locked at 3-3 at the conclusion of the first quarter. In the second frame, Bucknell outscored La Salle 2-0 to take a slim advantage into the half.
- The Bison inched away out of the break with a 2-1 third period. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 In the fourth, securing Bucknell's victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Blue & Gold was led in the scoring department by junior Tyler Williams and sophomore Callin Chimilar, each of whom tallied two goals.
- Chimilar has himself a complete game with three steals and two exclusions earned.
- Senior Cole Strohson and Karl Miller, along with freshman Kiahi Horan, also netted a goal.
- Senior Daniel Domotor turned provider in this game with three assists.
- Freshman Veljko Kotarica assumed the entire shift in net, producing eight saves on 17 shots.
Navy 19, La Salle 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Navy jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first and never looked back. The Mishipmen also claimed the second quarter, 5-3, to go into the intermission with a 9-4 lead.
- That advantage only swelled out of the half with Navy outscoring La Salle 7-2 in the ensuing quarter. The Explorers were down by 10 entering the fourth and could not mount a comeback.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- La Salle had seven different goalscorers in this match. All four senior got on the board: Strohson, Domotor, Miller and Ash Lyne. Williams and Chimilar also found the back of the net.
- The seventh goalscorer was freshman Chris Furlong. His strike against Navy was his first collegiate tally.
- All four freshmen goalkeepers saw action in this match. Kotarica had the best line with two saves on six shots.

- The Explorers will attempt to return to .500 and salvage the weekend with a matchup against George Washington on Sunday morning. Opening sprint is at 11 a.m.
