PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (3-1-0, 0-1-0 A-10) fell in the final minute of regulation against Massachusetts (2-2-1, 1-0-1) on Sunday, 1-0. The Minutewomen scored the game winner with 39 seconds left on the clock.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- La Salle had an early opportunity with a penalty kick during the 29th minute that was saved by UMass' Alyssa Chase.
- In the second half, junior Alyssa Van Heurck took a header off a corner kick that banged against the cross bar during the 70th minute.
- A short while later during the 85th minute of play, senior Amirah Louketis drilled a shot inside the box that clanked off the left post.
- After a free kick in their offensive half with under a minute to play, there was a scrum inside the box and the Minutewomen's Hannah Peric sent a ball to the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- La Salle dominated with 19 shots on net, compared to UMass' three.
- Redshirt-freshman Jordynn Stallard (2-1) picked up the loss and made two saves.
