PHILADELPHIA - One day after earning its first win of the season, the La Salle baseball team will be right back in action on Tuesday against Delaware State at Hank DeVincent Field.
First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN +. Freshman
Nick Hammer is expected to make his first career start on the mound.
ELECTRIC ELISSALT
- Freshman right-handed pitcher Frank Elissalt was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday.
- Elissalt struck out 11 batters in his collegiate debut on Friday against Hofstra, allowing just two runs on three hits over 6.0 innings pitched.
- The 11 strikeouts are the most by a La Salle pitcher since Dan Waters had 12 against Delaware State in 2006.
FIRST SERIES DOWN
- La Salle picked up its first win of the season on Monday, splitting a doubleheader with Hofstra.
- The Explorers erased a 5-0 deficit with six runs in the seventh inning of game one to snag the 6-5 victory.
- Graduate student Ryan Guckin hit two triples on the day, while junior Tatem Levins delivered a clutch three-run double in the win.
- Sophomore John DeMucci hit his first career home run in game two and sophomore Connor Coolahan had three hits on the day.
SCOUTING DELAWARE STATE
- The Hornets will be making their season debut on Tuesday against the Explorers.
- Delaware State was 3-12 last season before COVID-19 ended competition in March.
- When La Salle visited Delaware State last season, the Explorers got out to a 5-2 lead, but the Hornets stormed back to take a 9-5 decision.
