Men’s Soccer Battles Rain in Setback at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team had to battle through rainy conditions on Wednesday, ultimately coming up short at Drexel in a tough 1-0 decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Laolu Daranijo scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 13th minute to give the Dragons an early 1-0 edge.
  • The Explorers held a 6-4 shot advantage and a 4-1 shot on goal advantage in the opening half, but the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
  • La Salle continued to pressure Drexel in the second half, outshooting the Dragons 7-3 in the period.
  • The Explorers had to play a man down for the final 17:40 and just couldn't get anything past Drexel goalkeeper Stephen Kopsachilis, who had seven saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • La Salle finished the game with a significant edge in shots once again, 13-7, with a 7-3 advantage in shots on target.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Cam Hall saw his first action of the season in net, making two saves over a scoreless second period.
  • Junior Omari Cotterell fired three shots on goal, while freshman Junior Nare took three shots with one on target.
