Men’s Soccer Honors Seniors in Setback to Fordham

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University men's soccer team fell to Fordham on Senior Day from McCarthy Stadium Tuesday night. La Salle honored its two seniors – Pol Rene Giralt and Mitch Foster – prior to the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a lengthy delay due to an injury in the first half, Fordham took the lead in the 27th minute on a goal by Galen Flynn.
  • The two teams were fairly even over the first 45 minutes with four shots apiece entering halftime.
  • But the Rams came out swinging to start the second half and Florian Deletioglu found the back of the net to make it a 2-0 difference.
  • La Salle fired 12 shots in the second half, but just couldn't get anything past Fordham goalkeeper Josh Levine.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Juniors Nigel Buckley and Ike Hollinger each recorded four shots apiece, while sophomore Franc Gamiz Quer and freshman Scott Beeks both tallied two shots on goal each.
  • La Salle again had a major advantage in shots, 16-6, with an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. There were seven yellow cards in total for the game.
