Fordham Defeats Women’s Soccer on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (5-2-0, 2-2-0 A-10) was defeated by Fordham (2-2-1, 2-2-0 A-10) in Sunday's Senior Day game, 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • La Salle had an early opportunity on a free kick just outside the box during the 25th minute of play. Sophomore Emily Banashefski sent an arching kick over a wall of defenders just inside the right post, but Fordham's Maria O'Sullivan made a spectacular save.
  • About 10 minutes later, the Rams struck as Marissa Krenn fed Kendall Dandridge for a goal that was floated over redshirt-freshman Jordynn Stallard.
  • During the 88th minute of play, senior Jenna Soriano launched a corner kick into the box and rookie Kelli McGroarty nearly netted the equalizer off a header, but it was just wide.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Stallard (4-2-0) gave up the lone goal while making one save.
  • La Salle tallied seven shots with three on net, one more than Fordham's six total and three on target.
  • The Explorers took seven corner kicks compared to none by the Rams.
