FIVE GAMES IN
  • The Explorers got five games in over the past week, including two comeback victories over Hofstra and Delaware State at Hank DeVincent Field.
  • In Monday's doubleheader split with Hofstra, La Salle rallied from a 5-0 deficit and scored six runs in the seventh inning to snag the 6-5 win.
  • Tatem Levins went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the win, Ryan Guckin hit the go-ahead two-run triple and Jordan Morales earned the save after tossing two shutout innings of relief. In the second game of the doubleheader, John DeMucci hit his first career home run.
  • On Tuesday, the Explorers came from behind again, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 10-6 victory over Delaware State behind a brilliant performance by Jack Cucinotta at the plate.
  • Cucinotta hit a solo home run in the Explorers' very first at-bat of the game and reached base in all five of his plate appearances on the day, going 1-for-1 with four walks, three runs and a stolen base.
  • Levins also went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs in Tuesday's win, while freshman Nick Hammer earned the victory on the mound after scattering three runs on four hits over five innings.
ELISSALT EARNS ROOKIE HONORS
  • Freshman right-handed pitcher Frank Elissalt was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday following a stellar performance in his debut last Friday.
  • Elissalt struck out 11 batters in his first career game and allowed just two runs on three hits over 6.0 innings of work in a no decision.
  • It was the most strikeouts by a La Salle pitcher since Dan Waters had 12 against Delaware State in 2006.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
  • Bucknell opened its season up on Thursday, falling 3-2 at Mount St. Mary's in 10 innings.
  • Henry Novick hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th before the Mountaineers scored three in the bottom half. It was the only hit of the game for the Bison.
  • During a COVID-shortened 2020 season, Bucknell went 4-12, and as a team the Bison had a .243 batting average and a 7.48 ERA.
SCOUTING DELAWARE
  • Sunday's doubleheader will be Delaware's first action of the season.
  • The Blue Hens were 8-7 overall and riding a four-game win streak a year ago before the season ended early.
  • Delaware hit .290 as a team last season and had a team ERA of 5.91.
