Men's Water Polo Travels to Lewisburg for MAWPC Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Men's water polo looks to make waves in a condensed-field MAWPC Championship on Sunday. The Explorers will begin their postseason fight with a matchup vs. George Washington in the semifinals at 11 a.m. If they win, they'll advance to play the hosts Bucknell in the finals at 3:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • The Explorers are coming off an 0-3 weekend, however with two of those games being decided by two goals or less.
  • Sophomore Callin Chimilar led La Salle with five goals. The Canadian international also put in a strong shift on defense with five steals, three exclusions earned and three blocks over the three games.
  • Junior Tyler Williams was second in scoring with four strikes and adding one assist.
  • Senior Daniel Domotor was the team's top provider with six assists, while also tallying three goals.
  • The Blue & Gold also received contributions from seniors Cole Strohson and Ashy Lyne. Strohson led the Explorers with six steals while netting three goals. Lyne also managed three tallies and two steals.
  • In net, freshman Veljko Kotarica recorded 22 saves on 44 shots for a .500 save percentage. He also added three steals.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
  • George Washington is the team most recently on La Salle's mind as they last played on February 28th – a 9-8 victory for the Colonials.
  • Senior Andras Levai scored the go-ahead goal in the game, striking with 2:25 remaining. He finished with a team-high three goals and an assist.
  • The Colonials receive good production in net from freshman Luca Castorina. The Italian native recorded 14 saves in the match against La Salle.
  • The Colonials are 1-3 overall this season.
SCOUTING THE BISON
  • Bucknell most recently played the Blue & Gold on February 27th – a 9-7 win for the Bison.
  • In last year's postseason, the Explorers played the number one seed close throughout, eventually falling 13-10.
