PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey team looks to finish the 2021 season on a high note with a pair of games this week, beginning with a non-conference match against local foe Temple on Thursday, April 15. The season finale takes the Explorers to Lock Haven for their final A-10 match on Saturday, April 17.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle continued its season-ending, five-match road swing on April 10 against UMass.
- Sophomore Samie Hackman scored a highlight-reel goal to give the Explorers an early 1-0 lead, but the Minutewomen tied the match before halftime and scored three times in the second to earn the win.
- Hackman lead the team with a pair of goals on the season, while freshman Tatum Johnson has a squad-best three assists.
- Freshman Ryan Curley made her first career start in goal against UMass, recording 11 saves.Â
SCOUTING TEMPLE
- The Owls stand at 7-9 overall and are coming off consecutive wins over another Philadelphia area school, Villanova, last weekend.
- Veronika Novakova and Nienke Oerlemans are tied for the team lead with 10 points apiece.
- La Salle is looking to snap a five-game losing streak against Temple, with its last win coming in 2010.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
- The Bald Eagles had their most impressive win of the season their last time out, a 1-0 shootout win over nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's.
- In the first meeting between La Salle and Lock Haven, the two teams scored all three of the match's goals in the first eight minutes of the contest.
- La Salle went on top less than two minutes in, thanks to a goal from sophomore Natalie Biliunas, only to see LHU quickly score twice to take control.
