Lacrosse Routs St. Bonaventure, Scores Most Goals Since 2007

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – La Salle lacrosse dominated in a 22-5 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday. The goals scored are the most by the Explorers since a 22-13 win over Lafayette in 2007.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • La Salle and St. Bonaventure went back and forth in the first few minutes of the game as each team scored twice. The Explorers then blitzed the Bonnies for the rest of the half, outscoring them 13-1. 
  • Senior Emily Johnston and graduate student Gabby Burton both found the back of the net to start the second, extending the advantage to 17-3. A home goal was answered by three straight from the visitors, making it 20-4.
  • St. Bonaventure's final goal came at the 11:26 mark. The Blue & Gold scored twice more and shut its opponent down the rest of the way
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Eight Explorers finished with multi-goal games, led by sophomore Madi McKee as she matched her career high with five strikes.
  • Senior Annina Iacobucci finished with the second-most goals with four, followed by Johnston on a hattrick.
  • Five Explorers scored twice against the Bonnies: Burton and fellow graduate student Mikki Raymond, seniors Allison Hunter and Bridget Ruskey and sophomore Tori Rolon.
  • McKee paced the Blue & Gold on the draw with seven draw controls. 
  • Graduate student Lexi Kucia and senior Molly Loughlin both finished with a game-high four ground balls.
  • In net, Loughlin tallied six saves on 10 shots.
  • Of La Salle's 35 shots, 32 were on goal. St. Bonaventure recorded 12 shots on net.
  • La Salle excelled in taking its free position opportunities, converting on eight of its 11 chances. Burton and McKee both scored twice from eight meters.
UP NEXT
  • La Salle travels to Penn on Thursday before returning home to host Duquesne on Sunday. That last game will be the Explorers' Senior Day with a ceremony after the game.
