PHILADELPHIA – La Salle lacrosse fell to Penn in its final road game of the season Thursday, 16-11. Seniors Annina Iacobucci and Emily Johnston accounted for most of the offense on the day, scoring four goals each.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The teams exchanged goals to begin the game before Penn scored three straight to go up 4-1. The first half was tightly contested the rest of the way with the Explorers holding a 5-4 edge, trailing by two heading into the break.
• Iacobucci struck first out of the gates to make it 8-7. Penn countered, Iacobucci scored again, the Quakers answered and Iacobucci had a reply to close the gap to 9-8.
• Three unanswered from the home team pushed the lead back out to four but the Blue & Gold wasn't finished yet. Johnston (twice) and graduate student Gabby Burton scored to cut the deficit to one again.
• The Explorers couldn't find that elusive equalizer and the Ivy League team found the back of the net four more time to finish the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• With Johnston adding an assist to her line, along with Iacobucci's four goals, the pair had a hand in nine of La Salle's 11 goals.
• Burton, senior Maddie Dachowski, and freshman Kira Sides were the other Explorers on the scoresheet.
• Senior Bridget Ruskey led the team in ground balls with four, followed by Iacobucci and Johnston with three each. 
• Johnston finished with five of the team's 12 draw controls. Sides amassed a season-high three.
